  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups semisweet or dark chocolate chunks or chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets.
  2. Cream together butter and cream cheese until smooth.
  3. Add granulated sugar and brown sugar; beat until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in egg and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Stir in chocolate chunks or chips.
  8. Scoop dough onto baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft.
  10. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra soft cookies, don't overbake them. They should still look slightly underdone in the center when you take them out of the oven.
