  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter 1 stick
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips optional
  • White icing
  • Brown icing

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch baking pan.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, cocoa, and salt.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  5. Gradually stir in flour until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Stir in chocolate chips (if using).
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with fudgy crumbs.
  9. Let cool completely in pan before cutting into squares.
  10. Decorate with white and brown icing to resemble footballs. Add laces with icing

Notes

For extra fudgy brownies, slightly underbake them. Be careful not to burn the butter while melting.
