Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (3-4 minutes).
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract and mix well.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts, if using) until evenly distributed.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers are soft.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra chewy cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
