  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil or any neutral oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8x8 inch pan.
  2. Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  3. In a larger bowl, whisk together maple syrup, applesauce, melted coconut oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour dry ingredients into wet ingredients. Stir until just combined; don’t overmix!
  5. Gently fold in chocolate chips, saving some for topping.
  6. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Let cool completely before cutting.
