  • 6 small apples (Granny Smith or similar)
  • 6 wooden craft sticks
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup light corn syrup
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pastel gel food coloring (pink, blue, yellow, green)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Method
 

  1. Wash and dry apples. Insert craft sticks.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir until sugar dissolves.
  4. Boil to 300°F (hard-crack stage).
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Divide candy mixture into bowls. Add food coloring.
  7. Dip each apple into colored candy, let excess drip.
  8. Place coated apples on the baking sheet.
  9. Sprinkle with sprinkles, if desired.
  10. Let cool completely.
