Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Combine cake mix, milk, oil, and eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed for 2 minutes.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Frost the top and sides with chocolate frosting.
- Wash and dry the strawberries. Hull them if desired. Arrange the strawberries on top of the cake.
- Sprinkle with chocolate shavings or sprinkles, if desired. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate frosting and add a layer of chocolate ganache under the strawberries.
