Ingredients
  

Cake
  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 3 ounce package strawberry halal gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 pint fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
Frosting & Garnish
  • 1 16 ounce container chocolate frosting
  • Chocolate shavings (optional) for garnish
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish (optional) for garnish

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  2. Dissolve strawberry halal gelatin in boiling water. Stir in cold water and oil.
  3. Add cake mix and eggs to the halal gelatin mixture. Beat until well combined.
  4. Gently fold in sliced strawberries.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer comes out clean.
  6. Let cake cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  7. Frost the cooled cake with chocolate frosting.
  8. Garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh strawberries, if desired.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate frosting.
