  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.75 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy and smooth.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture to wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until combined.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
  9. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra chewy cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
