Ingredients
  

Butter and Aromatics
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
Flour and Broth
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 3 cups milk
Seasonings
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
Vegetables and Cheese
  • 10 oz broccoli florets, chopped
  • 3 cups shredded triple cheddar cheese blend

Method
 

  1. Melt butter and cook onions until translucent.
  2. Add flour, cook 3 minutes, then whisk in broth and milk.
  3. Stir in seasonings, add broccoli, and simmer 15 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat, add cheese, and stir until melted.

Notes

For a thicker soup, blend a portion before adding cheese.
