Ingredients

Cookie Ingredients
  • 2.5 sticks unsalted butter slightly cool, mixer will soften
  • 1.5 cups packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 3.25 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2.5 cups bittersweet chocolate chips or use high quality chocolate and cut it into chunks

Method

  1. Beat butter until creamy, add brown sugar and beat for 3 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla, baking soda, and salt. Add flour and mix until blended. Mix in chocolate chips.
  2. Scoop dough into 1/4 cup mounds and chill for 2 or more hours.
  3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Arrange cookies 6 to a sheet and bake for about 18 minutes until browned.
  4. Makes 20 cookies

Notes

For best results, chill the dough for at least 2 hours before baking. This helps prevent the cookies from spreading too thin.
